Surat al-Hashr

Question: I heard that whoever reads Surat al-Hashr every night and dies that night will be a martyr. What is the authenticity of this? Please inform us, and may you be rewarded.

Answer: I have not come across this hadith regarding the virtue of Surat al-Hashr. Surat al-Hashr is a great surah, without doubt. It contains great rulings, the glorification of Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He) in its beginning, and His names in its conclusion. It is a great surah that also describes the characteristics of the Muhajireen and the Ansar, and the noble deeds they offered in service of Islam and support of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). It also contains warnings against the characteristics of the hypocrites, and an explanation of their evil and their schemes. So it is a great surah without doubt, and it has a great virtue, like the other surahs of the great Qur'an. As for this hadith mentioned by the questioner, I searched for it but did not find it.

Answer: First: This noble verse is a parable struck by Allah regarding the mixing of the disbeliever with the Muslim. The disbeliever does not benefit from mixing with the Muslim, as long as he has not entered into Islam. On the Day of Resurrection, he will be in the Fire, and his companionship with the Muslim and his mixing with the Muslim will not benefit him, even if the friendship and relationship are strong; because he is not a Muslim.
As for the betrayal that occurred from the wife of Noah and the wife of Lot, it is a betrayal of the religion; because the wife of Noah and the wife of Lot were disbelievers, so they betrayed them in religion, in that they did not enter into the religion of their husbands. This is considered betrayal, and it is not a betrayal of honor; because the beds of the Prophets are protected, (peace and blessings be upon them). It is not possible for a Prophet to marry a woman who is a betrayer in her honor; because they are protected, (peace and blessings be upon them), from that, and their beds are protected.
So the intended meaning here of betrayal is betrayal of the religion.

And it was said: Their betrayal was that the wife of Noah used to inform the disbelievers of the secrets of Noah (peace be upon him), describing him as a madman. And the betrayal of the wife of Lot was that she used to point out the guests of Lot to her people, so that they would commit the indecency with them.
So they are two betrayers of the trust between them and their husbands, in terms of keeping secrets and not pointing out what they had of secrets, and the guests, and other things. This is the type of betrayal that actually occurred.

And the conclusion: That this betrayal is not a betrayal of honor, but rather it is either in the religion, or a betrayal in not keeping secrets.

Question: What are the virtues that have been reported regarding Surat al-Mulk?

Answer: Surat al-Mulk is a great surah, and hadiths have been reported regarding its virtue,Among them is what was narrated by the people of the four Sunan: that a man read a surah of thirty verses which interceded for him, and it was reported that Surat al-Mulk also, its reading protects from the punishment of the grave, or something to that effect. It has virtue, and it has a great reward; for what it contains of the great meanings that Allah the Exalted revealed in it. So it is a great surah, and this virtue mentioned by the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) has been reported regarding its recitation.
