Q 1: It is mentioned that Abu Muhammad narrated from Abu Umamah al-Bahili who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
When one of you dies and you level the earth over him, let one of you stand at the head of his grave and then say: O so-and-so, son of so-and-so. He will hear but not answer. Then let him say: O so-and-so, son of so-and-so, a second time. He will sit up straight. Then let him say: O so-and-so, son of so-and-so, a third time. He will say: Guide us, may Allah have mercy on you, but you do not hear. He will say: Remember what you left the world upon: the testimony that there is no god but Allah, that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah, that you were pleased with Allah as your Lord, with Islam as your religion, with Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) as your Prophet, and with the Qur'an as your leader. Then Munkar and Nakir will each delay, saying: Let us go. Why should we sit with this man when he has been instructed in his argument? And Allah will be his argument against them. A man said: O Messenger of Allah, what if he does not know his mother? He said: He is attributed to his mother, Eve.
A 1: The hadith regarding instructing the deceased after burial is not established from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), so it is not permissible to act upon it.
