Is there a report in the Sunnah that a man instructs the deceased after burial?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : Is there a report in the Sunnah that a man instructs the deceased after burial?

The Shaykh : That is not authentic from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). There is only a hadith from Abu Umamah:
That he is instructed and called by his mother, and it is said to him: Remember what you left the world with, the testimony that there is no god but Allah and that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah. أنه يلقن ويُدعى بأمه، ويقال له: اذكر ما خرجت عليه من الدنيا شهادة أن لا اله إلا الله وأن محمداً رسول الله
to the end of it. However, this hadith is not authentic from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family). The Sunnah is to stand at the grave, seek forgiveness for the deceased, and ask Allah for steadfastness for him, saying: “O Allah, forgive him. O Allah, forgive him. O Allah, forgive him. O Allah, grant him steadfastness. O Allah, grant him steadfastness. O Allah, grant him steadfastness.” The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to stand over the grave after the burial of the deceased was completed and say:
Seek forgiveness for your brother, and beg steadfastness for him, for he will be questioned now. استغفروا لأخيكم واسألوا له التثبيت، فإنه الآن يسأل
Sunan Abi Dawud 3221Sahih (Al-Albani)
This supplication is to be done individually, meaning that each person makes the supplication for the deceased without everyone reciting it in unison.
