Redemption for the deceased from the Fire
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The fifth question of Fatwa No. ( 21264 )
Q 5: What is the religious opinion regarding performing a redemption for the deceased? They say that it is
a redemption for the deceased from the Fire, by reciting for him: "Say, He is Allah, the One" and the two chapters of protection one hundred thousand times. Is it true that this is a release from the Fire? And what is the religious opinion regarding completing a full recitation of the Noble Qur'an for the soul of the deceased (the dead)? Does reciting the Qur'an for him benefit him, and what benefits him so that we may do it?
A 5 : Reciting the Qur'an or part of it and dedicating its reward to the deceased is not supported by any evidence. Therefore, it is obligatory to leave it and restrict oneself to doing what is supported by evidence, such as giving charity on behalf of the deceased, making supplication for him, and performing Hajj and 'Umrah on his behalf. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
