Holding the Friday Prayer by Farmers Outside the Town

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Fatwa No. ( 13858 )
Q: We are a group consisting of approximately (42) families, with each family including several men. We reside in one area for about a third or half of the year, for the purpose of farming. Is the Friday prayer obligatory for us while we are staying in that area, or not? Please note that this group does not live in one area like a village, but rather in scattered camps, where we can see one another when the grass and plants are short. Also, is there evidence that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) performed the Friday prayer on the road during the migration under a tree? We are confused about our situation, so please issue a ruling for us, and may Allah reward you with good.
A: If the reality is as the questioner described regarding the mentioned families, then the Friday prayer is not obligatory for them; because, given the circumstances described, they are in the category of Bedouins, not in the category of people of villages and cities. As for the hadith you referred to, that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) established the Friday prayer on the road during the migration under a tree, it has no basis in authenticity. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
