The Adhan of a Child

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Fatwa No. ( 14935 )
Q: He says: An imam was appointed in the mosque of a corner in his village, and he has a son who is 12 years old. Likewise, the neighbors' sons are between 6 and 12 years old, and they all take turns calling the adhan in this mosque, and they call it at the proper time. Is it permissible for them to call the adhan at this age? Knowing that the mosque
does not have an official mu'adhdhin.

A: The best and recommended practice is for the mu'adhdhin to be an adult; because through the adhan, he announces the entry of the prayer times and the time of the appearance of dawn and the setting of the sun in fasting. As for the adhan of a child, if he is of discernment and relies on an adult, or if he calls the adhan in mosques like those of Madinah , such that someone else calls it—then the correct view is that it is permissible and his adhan is valid. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
