Q: I am asking about the hadith cited in the book titled (Min Riyad al-Tawhid), which reads: From Ibn al-Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both), who said: We were with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) in the house of a man from the Ansar in a group, when a caller shouted: O people of the house, do you permit me to enter? I have a need of you. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: (Do you know who the caller is?) They said: Allah and His Messenger know best. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: ( This is Iblis, may Allah curse him) and 'Umar ibn al-Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) said: Do you permit me to kill him, O Messenger of Allah? The Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) said: (Wait, O 'Umar , do you not know that he is among those granted respite until a known day , but open the door for him, for he is commanded to do so, so understand him and listen. When he appeared, he was an old man with one eye... ) etc.
A: The hadith mentioned has no basis, as far as we know, and the source cited
is unknown, so it is obligatory to leave it alone and not spread it among the people. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
