The reciter said: He (may Allah have mercy on him) said: "The chapter on applying the rulings of people based on their outward appearance, while their inner secrets are left to Allah the Exalted:
Allah the Exalted said:
But if they should repent, establish prayer, and give zakah, let them [go] on their way
[At-Tawbah 9:5]
.
And from Ibn 'Umar (may Allah be pleased with him and his father) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
I have been ordered (by Allah) to fight against the people until they testify that none has the right to be worshipped but Allah and that Muhammad is Allah's Messenger (ﷺ), and offer the prayers perfectly and give the obligatory charity, so if they perform that, then they save their lives and property from me except for Islamic laws and then their reckoning (accounts) will be done by Allah.
Sahih al-Bukhari 25

And from Tariq ibn Ashim (may Allah be pleased with him) who said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say:
He who professed that there is no god but Allah and made a denial of everything which the people worship beside Allah, his property and blood became inviolable, an their affairs rest with Allah.
Sahih Muslim 23a
, narrated by Muslim.
And from al-Miqdad ibn al-Aswad (may Allah be pleased with him) who said:
told him that he said to Allah's Messenger (ﷺ), "Suppose I met one of the infidels and we fought, and he struck one of my hands with his sword and cut it off and then took refuge in a tree and said, "I surrender to Allah (i.e. I have become a Muslim),' could I kill him, O Allah's Messenger (ﷺ), after he had said this?" Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) said, "You should not kill him." Al- Miqdad said, "O Allah's Messenger (ﷺ)! But he had cut off one of my two hands, and then he had uttered those words?" Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) replied, "You should not kill him, for if you kill him, he would be in your position where you had been before killing him, and you would be in his position where he had been before uttering those words."
Sahih al-Bukhari 4019
, agreed upon.
And from Usamah ibn Zayd (may Allah be pleased with him and his father) who said:
The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) sent us to al-Hurqah of the tribe of Juhaynah. We caught the people by surprise at their water source. I and a man from the Ansar pursued one of them. When we caught up with him, he said, 'There is no god but Allah.' The Ansari man held back from him, but I stabbed him with my spear until I killed him. When we arrived in Madinah, the news reached the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and he said to me: 'O Usamah, did you kill him after he said there is no god but Allah?' I said: 'O Messenger of Allah, he was only seeking refuge.' He said: 'Did you kill him after he said there is no god but Allah?' He kept repeating this to me until I wished I had not become a Muslim before that day.
