Writing Verses of the Noble Qur'an on Ceramics

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Fatwa No. ( 20475 )
Q: We inform you that we are about to import thermal paper printed with Qur'anic verses and images of the two Holy Mosques to be placed on the ceramics produced in our factories, according to the attached sample. We kindly request that you review it and approve it.
A: It is not permissible to place Qur'anic verses, the beautiful names of Allah, or images of the two Holy Mosques on any ceramics or cosmetic products; due to many precautions, including: exposing the verses and the names of Allah to desecration
by placing them in inappropriate places, as well as seeking blessing and attaching oneself to them other than to Allah, in addition to the fact that this practice was not the practice of the Salaf of this Ummah. Exalting the religion and its rituals is done with the hearts, and the effect of that appears on the limbs through striving to apply the Shari'ah, establishing acts of worship, and being zealous regarding the prohibitions of Allah when they are violated, not by writing on walls and vessels. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
