Fatwa No. ( 16110 )
Q: We ask Your Eminence to review the attached sheet and clarify the authenticity of these supplications. Are they reported from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him)? This female teacher who wrote the sheet wishes to share it with her colleagues as part of a project, seeking reward and recompense from Allah. (The administration is pleased to offer this supplication to its female staff. It is to be recited every night of the blessed month after the Fajr prayer. With our best wishes for success and prosperity. Recite Surat al-Fatihah once. Recite Surat al-Nas once. Recite Surat al-Falaq once. Recite Surat al-Ikhlas 100 times. Recite the Verse of the Throne once.
Then recite this supplication: O Allah, Owner of Majesty to whom none can give, Owner of Glory and Honor, Owner of Generosity and Bestowal. My Lord, by Your greatest manifestation in this night of the honored month of Ramadan, and by the right of what I have recited from the Great Qur'an, avert from us calamity, plague, trials, and diseases, both what is apparent and what is hidden, as You will and how You will, for You are capable of what You will. O Allah, I ask You by Your bounty and by the secret of Your Prophet Muhammad, and by the secret between You and him, to place a barrier between us and every oppressor, sinner, stubborn one, and envious person. O Allah, do not let one who does not fear You, does not revere You, and does not have mercy on us have power over us. O Allah, avert from us calamity, plague, and trials, both what is apparent and what is hidden, as You will and how You will, for You are capable of what You will. Ease for us every difficult matter, and help us against the people of oppression, by the virtue of Subhan Allah, Alhamdulillah, Allahu Akbar, La ilaha illa Allah, and La hawla wa la quwwata illa billah al-Ali al-Azim, and by the secrets of the secrets of al-Fatihah to the spirit of the noble Prophet, to the spirits of his pure wives, and to the spirits of his household and all his Companions. Al-Fatihah: Bismillah al-Rahman al-Rahim: Alhamdulillah Rabb al-Alamin... until the end of the surah.) We ask Your Eminence to clarify the authenticity of these supplications and respond to
the fax number (...). This will enable her colleagues to convince her with the fatwa from Your Eminence, and to prevent this sheet from spreading among the people. We ask Allah for Your Eminence a long life, good deeds, and a good ending.

A: It is obligatory for the Muslim that all his actions conform to the Sunnah of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). The mentioned supplications contain many matters that are religious innovations, such as repeating Surat al-Ikhlas (Say: He is Allah, One) one hundred times, asking by the secret of the Prophet, and asking by the secret between Allah and His Prophet, among other innovative matters. Therefore, it is not permissible to make supplication with those supplications mentioned in the bulletin in the manner described. What is established from the Prophet in terms of supplications is sufficient, and there is no need for others. Specifying a particular supplication for every night of Ramadan is not from the Sunnah. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
