Is it true that if a person takes a bath after washing the body of a deceased person, he loses the reward and the recompense?

The questioner : You say that when a person washes the body of a deceased person, he takes a bath afterwards, and this is a custom among us. But some people say that if a person takes a bath after washing the body of a deceased person, he loses the reward he earned. Is this true?
The Shaykh : Praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds, and I send prayers and peace upon our Prophet Muhammad, and upon his family and all his Companions. Washing the body of a deceased person is a collective obligation (fard kifayah), because the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said regarding the one whose mount gored him: And likewise, when his daughter passed away, he said to the women: So, if a person washes the body of a deceased person and is directly involved in washing it, it is recommended (sunnah) for him to take a bath afterwards. And if he takes a bath afterwards, his reward does not disappear, because he performed a righteous deed, indeed a collective obligation. So, if he is sincere to Allah the Exalted in that, he will attain the reward, and his taking a bath does not affect his reward in any way whatsoever. Rather, his taking a bath is something for which he is rewarded, as the scholars said that it is a recommended practice (sunnah). And how many things do the common people say that have no basis? Therefore, a person should not rely on what the common people say until he asks the scholars, who will clarify the truth from the falsehood in it.
