The Christians' claim that we are the sons of Allah

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The second question of Fatwa No. ( 18885 )
Q 2: One of the scholars said: We have an interpretation of what the Christians saythe Christiansthat they are the sons of Allah. This statement: (We, all of humanity, are the sons of Allah, meaning: He is our one Creator, and He is the one who supports us alone and provides for us all; due to the saying of the hadith:
The poor are my dependentsالفقراء عيالي
, and it is not the sonship of Allah for us that is known from birth certificates, and we are all His servants, and we do not prostrate except to Allah alone)
What is your opinion, Your Eminence, regarding that?

A 2: Allah has clarified in His Book that the Christians hold a false belief that Jesus is the son of Allah, attributing this to Him. The Exalted said:
and the Christians say, "The Messiah is the son of Allah." That is their statement from their mouths; they imitate the saying of those who disbelieved [before them]. May Allah destroy them; how are they deluded?
[At-Tawbah 9:30]
. They claim that Jesus is the son of Allah, distinguishing him from the rest of humanity. For this reason, He said, refuting those who made this false claim:
(88) And they say, "The Most Merciful has taken [for Himself] a son." (89) You have done an atrocious thing. (90) The heavens almost rupture therefrom and the earth splits open and the mountains collapse in devastationوَقَالُوا اتَّخَذَ الرَّحْمَنُ وَلَدًا (88) لَقَدْ جِئْتُمْ شَيْئًا إِدًّا (89) تَكَادُ السَّمَاوَاتُ يَتَفَطَّرْنَ مِنْهُ وَتَنْشَقُّ الأَرْضُ وَتَخِرُّ الْجِبَالُ هَدًّا
[Maryam 19:88-90]
. And Allah the Exalted said, refuting the Jews and the Christians in their claim that they are the sons of Allah and His beloved, in their arrogance, exaltation, and distinction of themselves from the rest of humanity:
But the Jews and the Christians say, "We are the children of Allah and His beloved." Say, "Then why does He punish you for your sins?" Rather, you are human beings from among those He has createdوَقَالَتِ الْيَهُودُ وَالنَّصَارَى نَحْنُ أَبْنَاءُ اللَّهِ وَأَحِبَّاؤُهُ قُلْ فَلِمَ يُعَذِّبُكُمْ بِذُنُوبِكُمْ بَلْ أَنْتُمْ بَشَرٌ مِمَّنْ خَلَقَ
[Al-Ma'idah 5:18]
. As for one who thinks that the Christians are the sons of Allah, meaning: that Allah supports them
and provides for their sustenance alone, distinguishing them from the rest of humanity, this is also false; because Allah, Glorified and Exalted is He, has undertaken the sustenance of all the servants, and He is the one who supports them alone with His care and guidance. As for the hadith "The creation are the dependents of Allah," it is not authentic. And its meaning, if it were authentic, is that He, Glorified and Exalted is He, is the one who supports them and spends upon them, as He, Glorified and Exalted is He, said:
And there is no creature on earth but that upon Allah is its provisionوَمَا مِنْ دَابَّةٍ فِي الأَرْضِ إِلا عَلَى اللَّهِ رِزْقُهَا
[Hud 11:6]
. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
