Is there not a refutation of the Asha'irah in the saying of the Exalted, "We are the sons of Allah and His beloved"? For Allah did not deny the term "beloved" to them?

The questioner : Is it not possible to take from this verse:
But the Jews and the Christians say, "We are the children of Allah and His beloved." قالت اليهود والنصارى نحن أبناء الله وأحباؤه
[Al-Ma'idah 5:18]
a refutation of the Asha'irah, since Allah did not deny love?

The Shaykh : Glory be to Allah! Did we not say this? We said, "They know of the attributes of Allah what these deniers do not know." If we say this, it is more eloquent than being a proof for this.
