Hajj after repenting from religious innovations
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The first question of Fatwa number ( 17789 )
Q 1: We were in India committing religious innovations, such as the eleventh day, and preparing food in the name of Imam Ja'far al-Sadiq , and we were committing acts of shirk (associating partners with Allah) and religious innovations. When we came to the Kingdom , we performed the obligatory Hajj. Is our Hajj valid?
A 1: If a person was committing something of major shirk (associating partners with Allah), such as calling upon the dead or seeking their aid, and then repented to Allah with a valid repentance, abandoned these acts of shirk, and performed the obligatory Hajj after repenting, then his Hajj is valid. But if he performed Hajj while not having repented from calling upon the dead and seeking their aid, then his Hajj is not valid, nor are any of his other deeds; because of the saying of Allah the Exalted:[Al-An'am 6:88] . And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.

But if they had associated others with Allah, then worthless for them would be whatever they were doing.
