Fatwa number ( 16619 )
Q: If a person pays the zakah on his wealth and gives what is due from it at a specific time, and then the lunar year passes again and he forgets the date of the year, what is the expiation for that? May Allah reward you with good. And if a man vows to spend one-third of his wealth in the month of Ramadan, and then the month comes and he forgets this vow, does he have to pay an expiation or what does he do? Please give us a ruling, may Allah reward you with good.
A : He must give away the one-third he vowed whenever he remembers it, and he must give the zakah whenever he is convinced that the lunar year has completed. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
