Q: I made a vow upon myself that if Allah saves me from this problem—a problem I had encountered and which has ended, praise be to Allah—I would strive in the path of Allah with my own person , and if striving becomes impossible, I would walk on my feet from the city of Tabuk to the city of Makkah al-Mukarramah , and I would pray in the Makkah mosque in gratitude to Allah the Exalted, knowing that I am unable to strive at the present time due to my work circumstances. And may Allah send blessings upon our master
Muhammad and upon his family and his Companions and peace be upon them
A: Since this man is unable to strive in the path of Allah as he vowed, he should resort to the alternative he specified, which is going to Makkah and performing the lesser pilgrimage; based on the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him):Sahih al-Bukhari 6696 , and he is not required to walk on his feet to Makkah , but he may ride; based on the narration from 'Ikrimah from 'Uqbah ibn 'Amir al-Juhani who said: My sister vowed to walk to the Ka'bah , so the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: . Narrated by Ahmad and Abu Dawud . And success is from Allah, and may Allah send blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad and his family and his Companions and peace be upon them
