The second question of Fatwa number ( 7066 )
Q2: Is it true that it is narrated about 'Umar ibn al-Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) that once he jumped over the wall of one of the houses, and then found inside people drinking intoxicants, and they said to him: We committed one sin, and you committed three: you did not ask for permission, you did not come to us through the door, and you spied on us?
A2 : This story is not established for us after tracing what was written about 'Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) in the books of history and biographies, and it does not befit the character and biography of 'Umar . It is unlikely that people like these would dare to do so, while they are committing the crime of drinking intoxicants. Rather, it is known that they are ashamed and afflicted with disgrace because of their position regarding the crime, and because of the awe that 'Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) possessed. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
