The fourth question of Fatwa No. ( 18805 )
Q4: When we buy something from a merchant, we ask him, "How much is this?" and he says, "Such and such." Then we ask him, "How much is it, by your trust?" or "How much is it, I ask you by Allah?" or "How much is it, by the Stone of Allah?" What is the ruling on these three phrases?
A4 : It is not permissible to swear by other than Allah, neither by trust nor by anything else; because the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
He who swears by anyone but Allah is polytheist.من حلف بغير الله فقد أشرك
Sunan Abi Dawud 3251Sahih (Al-Albani)
. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
