Question:
What is the ruling on swearing by trust or by one's honor, as people say: "Trust me, tell me about this thing," or "It is in your honor"? May Allah reward you with good.
Answer:
Swearing by trust, or by one's honor, is not permissible, nor by any other created thing. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:Sahih al-Bukhari 2679 And he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Musnad Ahmad 329Sahih (Darussalam) Narrated by Imam Ahmad with a sound chain from the hadith of 'Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) And in the two Sahihs, it is reported from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that he said: Sahih al-Bukhari 6646 And he also (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Mishkat al-Masabih 3418 And he also (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Sunan Abi Dawud 3253Sahih (Al-Albani).
Therefore, it is not permissible for a Muslim man or woman to swear by other than Allah. One should not say: "By trust, I did not do such and such," or "By my honor, I did not do such and such," or "By your life, I did not do such and such," or "By your life, I did not do such and such," or "By your honor," or "By the Prophet," or "By the Ka'bah." All of this is not permissible; it is all shirk (associating partners with Allah). However, if one says: "In my honor, this is what is called an oath," or "In my honor... this is what is called an oath," or says: "I will give you this thing, and I am trustworthy regarding it," he does not swear by trust. He says: "My honor is with you regarding this; my trust is with you that I will not betray you." This is what is called an oath.
As for if one says: "By my trust," or "By the head of so-and-so," or "By my honor," or "And trust," all of this is not permissible; because the oath is made with the preposition "ba," or with "waw," or with "ta": "By Allah," "And Allah," "By Allah." So likewise, if one says: "By trust," "And trust," "By the Ka'bah," "By the life of so-and-so," "By the honor of so-and-so," "By the life of his father," and the like, all of this is called swearing by other than Allah, which is not permissible. Yes.

Swearing by trust, or by one's honor, is not permissible, nor by any other created thing. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
Whoever has to take an oath should swear by Allah or remain silent.
من كان حالفًا؛ فليحلف بالله، أو ليصمتwhoever swears by anything other than Allah has committed an act of shirk.
من حلف بشيء دون الله؛ فقد أشركto swear by your fathers, so whoever has to take an oath, he should swear by Allah or keep quiet.
لا تحلفوا بآبائكم، من كان حالفًا؛ فليحلف بالله، أو ليصمتDo not swear by your fathers, or by your mothers, or by rivals (Cf. Al-Qur’an 2:22 etc. The reference is to idols or false gods) to God; and swear by God only when you are speaking the truth.
لا تحلفوا بآبائكم، ولا بأمهاتكم، ولا بالأنداد، ولا تحلفوا بالله إلا وأنتم صادقونHe who swears by Amanah (faithfulness) is not one of us.
