A person who swears often and does not fulfill his oaths

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The fifth question of Fatwa No. ( 6401 )
Q 5: A person swears often and does not fulfill his oaths, so what is obligatory upon him?
A 5: First: It is obligatory for him to avoid frequent swearing; because of the saying of Allah, Glorified and Exalted is He:
And do not make [your oath by] Allah an excuseوَلاَ تَجْعَلُوا اللَّهَ عُرْضَةً لأَيْمَانِكُمْ
[Al-Baqarah 2:224]
the verse, and His saying
Glorified and Exalted is He:
And keep your oathsوَاحْفَظُوا أَيْمَانَكُمْ
, and he should repent to Allah from that, and seek forgiveness, so that perhaps Allah, Glorified and Exalted is He, will accept his repentance. Second: As for the oaths he mentioned, if they were on a single matter, he expiates for them with one oath expiation. And as for the oaths he mentioned on multiple matters, he expiates for each oath with one expiation. And for what he did not mention, there is no expiation upon him for it. The expiation for one oath is: feeding ten poor people, or clothing them, or freeing a believing slave. If he does not find the means, then he fasts three days, and it is better that they be consecutive; because of the saying of Allah, Mighty and Majestic:
Allah will not impose blame upon you for what is meaningless in your oaths, but He will impose blame upon you for [breaking] what you intended of oaths. So its expiation is the feeding of ten needy people from the average of that which you feed your [own] families or clothing them or the freeing of a slaveلاَ يُؤَاخِذُكُمُ اللَّهُ بِاللَّغْوِ فِي أَيْمَانِكُمْ وَلَكِنْ يُؤَاخِذُكُمْ بِمَا عَقَّدْتُمُ الأَيْمَانَ فَكَفَّارَتُهُ إِطْعَامُ عَشَرَةِ مَسَاكِينَ مِنْ أَوْسَطِ مَا تُطْعِمُونَ أَهْلِيكُمْ أَوْ كِسْوَتُهُمْ أَوْ تَحْرِيرُ رَقَبَةٍ
[Al-Ma'idah 5:89]
And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad and his family and his Companions.
