The first question of Fatwa number ( 13130 )
Q1: I swore an oath on someone by saying: "By Allah, I vow on my neck three times that you will do such-and-such," but it did not happen. What is the expiation for this oath?
A1: It is obligatory for you to pay one expiation for an oath due to your breaking of the oath and the vow;
because the matter sworn upon is a single thing, and the expiation is feeding ten poor people, or clothing them, or freeing a believing slave. If you do not find the means to do so, then fast for three days. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
