Wearing an iron ring for men

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The third question of Fatwa No. ( 11137 )
Q3: I heard from the program (Nur 'ala al-Darb) and on the tongue of the honorable Shaykh: 'Abd Allah ibn 'Abd al-Rahman ibn Gadyan , that wearing an iron ring is forbidden for men, so we ask for clarification of the matter with mention of the evidence. May Allah reward you a thousand times.
A3: From 'Abd Allah ibn Buraydah from his father (may Allah be pleased with them both): that
A man came to the Prophet (ﷺ) and he was wearing a signet-ring of yellow copper. He said to him: How is it that I notice the odour of idols in you? So he threw it away, and came wearing an iron signet ring. He (the Prophet) said: What is it that I see you wearing the adornment of the inhabitants of Hell? So he threw it away. He asked: Messenger of Allah, what material I must use? He said: Make it of silver, but do not weigh it as much as a mithqal,رجلاً جاء إلى النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم وعليه خاتم من ذهب، فقال: مالي أجد منك ريح الأصنام؟
Sunan Abi Dawud 4223Da'if (Al-Albani)
It was narrated by Abu Dawud and al-Tirmidhi and al-Nasa'i , and al-Tirmidhi said: This is a strange hadith, and from Iyas ibn al-Harith ibn al-Mu'ayqib from his grandfather, he said:
The signet-ring of the Prophet (ﷺ) was of iron polished with silver. Sometimes it remained in my possession. Al-Mu'ayqib was in charge of the signet-ring of the Prophet (ﷺ).كـان خاتم النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم من حديد ملوي عليه فضة، قال: فربما كان في يدي، قـال: وكـان المعيقيب ، على خـاتم النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم
Sunan Abi Dawud 4224Da'if (Al-Albani)
, it was narrated by Abu Dawud

and al-Nasa'i . And in the two Sahihs from Sahl ibn Sa'd al-Ansari (may Allah be pleased with him),
That the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to the one who proposed to the woman who dedicated herself to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): "Seek, even if it is a ring of iron."أن النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم قال للذي خطب المرأة التي وهبت نفسها للنبي صلى الله عليه وسلم: التمس ولو خاتمًا من حديد
, and this indicates the permissibility of wearing a ring of iron, just as the hadith of al-Mu'ayqib indicates. As for the hadith of Buraydah mentioned above, there is weakness in its chain, and thus it becomes clear that the stronger position is that there is no dislike in wearing a ring of iron, but wearing a ring of silver is better, because the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) had a ring of silver, as established in the two Sahihs. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad and his family and his Companions.
