Dealing with bribery in a state of dire necessity
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Fatwa number ( 13717 )
Q: Is it permissible to deal with bribery in a state of dire necessity ? The reason is that I am a Muslim, and I have debts that only Allah knows about, and as far as I can see, I have no way out except to travel outside my country, which is Egypt , and as you know, it applies man-made laws there, and it is not
the Islamic Shari'ah. When I wanted to travel to Saudi Arabia , I had to change my job title from employee to grocery store worker, or any other profession, and this cannot be done except by paying money to the officials in charge of passports. Do I have a dispensation in this? Knowing that my going to Saudi Arabia is to be a teacher. I ask you, Your Eminence, for a complete and detailed answer. May Allah guide you and protect you.
A: It is not permissible to pay a bribe to change your job title from employee to worker; because of the lying and cooperation in sin and transgression involved in that. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
