The third question of Fatwa No. ( 1620 )
Q 3: What is the ruling on the man who devotes himself to singing and makes it his profession and trade, from which he and his children and those he supports earn their living, while accompanying them with musical instruments for their singing?
A 3: It is obligatory for the Muslim to seek in his earnings the ways that Allah has prescribed, so that his earnings are good and his provision is lawful, and he spends on himself, his children, and those he supports from good earnings. By this, Allah records a reward for him and blesses him in himself, his wealth, and those he supports. It is forbidden for him to make singing and the use of
musical instruments, such as music and the like, a profession from which he and those he support earn their living, and from which he spends on the poor and in the causes of righteousness. For Allah is Good and accepts nothing but what is good. This is what brings about the anger of Allah, wipes out the blessing, and causes supplication to be rejected. Allah the Exalted said:[Al-Baqarah 2:267] , and it is established from Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Sahih Muslim 1015 Narrated by the Imam Ahmad and Muslim and al-Tirmidhi .

O you who have believed, spend from the good things which you have earned
O people, Allah is Good and He therefore, accepts only that which is good. And Allah commanded the believers as He commanded the Messengers by saying: "O Messengers, eat of the good things, and do good deeds; verily I am aware of what you do" (xxiii. 51). And He said: "O those who believe, eat of the good things that We gave you" (ii. 172). He then made a mention of a person who travels widely, his hair disheveled and covered with dust. He lifts his hand towards the sky (and thus makes the supplication): "O Lord, O Lord," whereas his diet is unlawful, his drink is unlawful, and his clothes are unlawful and his nourishment is unlawful. How can then his supplication be accepted?
