Q: I wrote a book titled: (Bright Stations in the History of Ma'an), which included a chapter on traditional songs , and now that the book has been distributed, I feel that the chapter was the arrow that struck my Muslim conscience. What is your opinion?
A: First : Since you have regretted what you wrote in the chapter on songs in your aforementioned book—praise be to Allah—and you must write a warning against that chapter, and if the book is printed again, it is obligatory for you to delete that chapter. We ask Allah to grant everyone pardon and forgiveness, for He is Generous and Bountiful. Second : You mentioned at the end of your letter that you are the tourism director in your country. If this tourism involves facilitating and easing the commission of sins and wrongs, and calling to them—then it is not permissible for a Muslim who believes in Allah and the Last Day to be an aid in the disobedience of Allah and the violation of His command. And whoever leaves something for the sake of Allah, Allah will replace it with something better.
