She vowed to go to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and explain to him their condition and the condition of her sick son

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Fatwa number ( 21299 )
Q: Her mother vowed to go to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and explain to him their condition and the condition of her sick son, and she also vowed to slaughter an animal as charity for the sake of Allah the Exalted on the occasion of his recovery from the accident and his discharge from the hospital. What is obligatory upon her?
A: It is not obligatory for your mother to fulfill her vow to meet the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques; because it is a permissible vow, and she has the choice between fulfilling it and paying the expiation for an oath, which is: freeing a believing slave, or feeding ten poor people, giving each poor person half a sa' (a dry measure of about 3 kg) of the local staple food, or clothing them. If she is unable to do any of the above, then she must fast for three days. As for her vow to slaughter for the sake of Allah upon your discharge from
the hospital, it is obligatory to fulfill it; because slaughtering for Allah is an act of worship. We advise your mother not to make vows in the future, because it is disliked, and it may lead a person into what he cannot do, thereby making things difficult for himself. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
