A vow to fast the entire month of Dhul-Hijjah

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Fatwa number ( 18553 )
Q: My mother vowed to fast the month of Dhul-Hijjah, and with the flow of blood, that is what she said. She is now old in age, lives in the desert, and has work that makes fasting difficult given the condition of the Bedouins. What is required of her? Since she is unable to fulfill her vow.
The blood, as she said, and she is now old in age, and she lives in the desert, and she has work that makes fasting difficult for her given the circumstances of the Bedouins, so what is required of her? Since she is unable to fulfill her vow.

A: It is not permissible to vow to fast the entire month of Dhul-Hijjah; because it contains days on which fasting is not permissible, namely: the day of the festival (‘Id al-Adha) and the days of Tashreeq. And because your mother is unable to fast in Dhul-Hijjah, even if she were to exclude the days on which fasting is prohibited, she must expiate her mentioned vow with the expiation of an oath; due to her inability to fulfill it. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
