Fatwa number ( 20125 )
Q: I gave birth to twin boys, and they were ill at the time of their birth. So I vowed that if Allah gives them life and heals them, I will attend their circumcision with drummers. When it came time for their circumcision, my husband and my brother refused to have the drummers present. I know that it is necessary to fulfill a vow, and more than ten years have passed since then. Please inform me about this, and thank you.
A: It is not permissible to fulfill this vow; because it is a vow of disobedience; because beating drums is from the forbidden amusement, and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:Sunan Ibn Majah 2126Sahih (Darussalam) And you must pay the expiation for an oath.
And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
