Q: A woman was involved in a car accident and subsequently admitted to the hospital, and she vowed that if she left the hospital in good health, she would fast one day every month, but she is currently experiencing difficulty with this fasting, especially during the hot days. We hope you will provide us with a ruling.
A: It is obligatory to fulfill a vow of obedience; for it is established that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:Sahih al-Bukhari 6696 Therefore, it is obligatory to fulfill the fast of that day every
month as long as she is able to do so. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
