Cursing One’s Parents
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The second question of Fatwa No. ( 17070 )
Q 2: A man prays, but he curses and abuses his father. Likewise, his wife curses and abuses her maternal uncle—her husband’s father. The father has died. Does the son inherit?
A 2: Cursing and abusing one’s parents is among the greatest forms of undutifulness to parents, and it is a major sin among the major sins; for Allah the Exalted said:[Al-Isra 17:23-24]
Therefore, it is obligatory for one who abuses and curses his parents to repent to Allah, to be kind to his parents, and to seek their forgiveness. As for his prayer, it is valid, but he commits the most severe sin by abusing and cursing his parents. He inherits from his relative because he is a Muslim. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
