The second question of Fatwa No. ( 16098 )
Q 2: What is the ruling in the religion regarding the pledge we take from the Shaykh
of the Sufi order , if we violate this pledge, have we violated the Book and the Sunnah?
A 2: The pledge of allegiance is not permissible except for the ruler of the Muslims, and it is not permissible for the Shaykh of a Sufi order or anyone else; because this has not been reported from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and it is obligatory for the Muslim to worship Allah with what He has prescribed, without being attached to a specific person, and because this is part of the practice of the Christians with the priests and heads of churches, and it is not known in Islam. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
