The first question of Fatwa No. ( 16013 )
Q1: Many people — not all of them — curse the religion openly, and in doing so they claim that they do not specifically intend to curse the religion, but rather the person in front of them. What is the ruling?
A1: Cursing the religion is apostasy from Islam. Allah the Exalted said:[At-Tawbah 9:65-66] . As for cursing a Muslim person, it is forbidden and is not apostasy; because of Allah’s saying: [Al-Hujurat 49:11] up to His saying: [Al-Hujurat 49:11] .
And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.

(65) And if you ask them, they will surely say, "We were only conversing and playing." Say, "Is it Allah and His verses and His Messenger that you were mocking?" (66) Make no excuse; you have disbelieved after your belief. If We pardon one faction of you - We will punish another faction because they were criminals.
O you who have believed, let not a people ridicule [another] people; perhaps they may be better than them
And do not insult one another and do not call each other by [offensive] nicknames. Wretched is the name of disobedience after [one's] faith.
And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
