Prayer with the head uncovered

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The first question of Fatwa number ( 9422 )
Q1: What is the ruling on one who always prays with his head uncovered, and says: Wearing the skullcap is not a recommended practice ? Because no hadith has come regarding this matter? And on this basis, a group has emerged in my country ( Mauritius ) claiming that wearing the skullcap for the one praying or for others is not a recommended practice, and indeed they look down upon the skullcap by calling it: a piece of cloth.
A1: First: Clothing is a custom, not an act of worship, and the matter is
broad, so nothing is prohibited for men except what the Shari'ah has prohibited; such as wearing silk for men, and transparent clothing that reveals their private parts, and tight clothing that outlines the private parts, and what involves imitating women or disbelievers in what pertains to them. Second: The head of a man is not a private part, and covering it is not a recommended practice, neither in prayer nor otherwise. He may wear a turban or a skullcap, and he may uncover his head in prayer and otherwise. No one has the right to criticize another or look down upon him in any of this. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
