Did the Companions differ in creed?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Fatwa number ( 21008 )
Q: Is it permissible to say: that the Companions (may Allah be pleased with them) differed in creed , such as: the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) seeing his Lord (Glorified and Exalted is He) on the night of the Ascension, and whether the dead hear or not, and saying: that this is part of the creed?
A : The Islamic creed, and praise be to Allah, has no difference among the Companions or anyone else who came after them from the people of the Sunnah and the community; because they believe in what the Book and the Sunnah indicate, and they do not invent anything from themselves or from their opinions, and this is what caused their agreement and consensus on one creed and one methodology; acting in accordance with the saying of Allah the Exalted:
And hold firmly to the rope of Allah all together and do not become dividedوَاعْتَصِمُوا بِحَبْلِ اللَّهِ جَمِيعًا وَلاَ تَفَرَّقُوا
[Ali 'Imran 3:103]

And among that is the issue of the believers seeing their Lord on the Day of Resurrection, for they are unanimous on its establishment by virtue of the mass-transmitted evidence from the Book and the Sunnah, and they did not differ in it. As for the difference in whether the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) saw his Lord on the night of the Ascension with visual sight, it is a difference regarding a specific event in this world, and not a difference regarding the seeing on the Day of Resurrection. The position of the majority of them, which is the truth, is that he (peace and blessings be upon him) saw his Lord with his heart, not with his eyes; because when he (peace and blessings be upon him) was asked about that, he said:
Light, how can I see it?نور أنى أراه
. So he denied seeing his Lord with his eyes in this instance due to the presence of the barrier preventing that, which is the light, and because they are unanimous that no one sees his Lord in this world, as in the hadith:
And know that none of you will see his Lord until he diesواعلموا أن أحدًا منكم لا يرى ربه حتى يموت
narrated by Muslim , except in the case of our Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). The correct view is that he did not see him in this regard. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad and his family and his Companions.
