Is it permissible to use certain food items, such as flour, eggs, and honey, as a treatment for the face, whether for a disease or for adornment?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : Her final question asks whether it is permissible to use certain food items, such as flour, eggs, honey, milk, and the like, as a treatment for diseases that may affect the face, such as chloasma and the like. And if it is not for a disease, but merely to beautify the skin, is that also permissible?

The Shaykh : The answer is that it is well known that these items are among the foods that Allah (Mighty and Majestic) created for the nourishment of the body. However, if a person needs to use them for something else that is not impure, such as treatment, then there is nothing wrong with it. This is based on His saying, the Exalted:
It is He who created for you all of that which is on the earth هو الذي خلق لكم ما في الأرض جميعاً
[Al-Baqarah 2:29]
His saying, the Exalted:
for you لكم
includes the general benefit, provided there is no indication of prohibition.

The questioner : Yes.

The Shaykh : As for using them for beautification, there are other substances available for beautification besides these, so using those is preferable. It should be known that beautification is not wrong; indeed, Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He) is Beautiful and loves beauty. However, extravagance in it, to the extent that it becomes the greatest concern of a person, so that he does not care about anything else and neglects much of the interests of his religion and his worldly life for its sake, is something that should not be done, because it falls under extravagance, and Allah (Mighty and Majestic) does not love extravagance.

The questioner : May Allah bless you.
