The second question of Fatwa No. ( 20811 )
Q 2: Many food items here, starting with bread and others, are rarely free of preservatives that contain some alcoholic substances in very small proportions, so what is the Muslim’s position regarding this, especially given that alternatives are not easily available?
A 2: If it is established that some food items or beverages contain alcohol that has a presence and effect in those items, then it is not permissible for a Muslim to consume them
by eating, drinking, or any other use; because Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He) has forbidden alcohol, whether in small or large amounts, and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:Jami` at-Tirmidhi 1865Hasan (Darussalam) . And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
