The first question of Fatwa No. ( 7843 )

Q1: I have a minor daughter whom I married to a man named (A. M.). After a period of time, a dispute arose between them, and she was declared defiant for a year. Throughout the dispute between the wife and husband, and due to his bad treatment, I swore by the Great Allah that if they were to reconcile after that, I would not greet that husband and I would not enter their house. After that, they reconciled and agreed, and the husband came and greeted me by force, but I did not accept that. I also do not wish to cut off ties with my daughter; I wish to enter her house and greet her husband. Please rule for us on this: Is it permissible for me to enter their house and greet my daughter’s husband after I have sworn by Allah, and is there no sin on me for doing so, or is it not permissible for me to do so? What is my obligation, and how should I act? Please rule for us, may Allah reward you with the best reward.
Volume 1 Enter his house and greet him; this maintains family ties and avoids severing them. Then, expiate your oath by feeding ten poor people, clothing them, or freeing a believing slave. If you cannot do any of that, fast for three days. Distributing five sa' (a dry measure of about 3 kg) of wheat, rice, or dates among ten poor people, giving each poor person half a sa', is sufficient for the feeding. The amount of five sa' is approximately 15 kilograms.
And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad and his family and his Companions.
