Q: He divorced his wife with a divorce in accordance with the Sunnah last year, and he wishes to take her back and asks about the permissibility of that?
A: If the aforementioned divorce was not the third divorce pronounced by the divorcer upon his wife, and it was not for compensation, then it is a revocable divorce, and he may take his divorced wife back as long as she is in the waiting period. If she has exited from it, or if the divorce was for compensation, and it was not the third divorce pronounced by him upon her, then it is permissible for him to marry her with a new contract and a mahr like that of her peers and her consent, after completing the pillars and conditions of the marriage contract. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
