Hanging a clock with images in the mosque

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The first question of Fatwa No. ( 18161 )
Q1: In the mosque there is a clock of somewhat large size, which has an image of the Ka'bah, may Allah honor it, and around it are people performing tawaf, and others praying, some bowing and some prostrating, their backs are distinct but their faces are not seen. It also contains the Name of Allah, and opposite it is "Muhammad, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)." It also contains the Verse of the Throne. When I wanted to remove it, the mosque's muezzin, who is an old man, objected and said: "There are no images in it," out of stubbornness and to refute the truth. I presented it to people in the mosque and asked them: "Do you see the images?" They answered affirmatively. A verbal altercation occurred until I said to him: "Do you accept the fatwas of the scholars?" He said: "How could I not accept them?" I said: "I will bring them to you, if Allah wills."
A1: It is not permissible to hang a clock that contains images of beings with souls, whether human or otherwise, neither in the mosque nor elsewhere. Hanging it in the mosque is more strictly forbidden; because of the imitation of idol worshippers and the creation of images in the mosque, and because of the writing of the Name of Allah and the name of the Messenger Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) next to it, which is an exaggeration in the right of the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) and a means of shirk (associating partners with Allah). In addition, these drawings and writings distract the worshippers. Therefore, it is obligatory to obliterate these images and writings if possible, or to remove this clock from the mosque and replace it with a clock
free from what was mentioned. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his companions.
