Hanging Pictures
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Fatwa No. ( 16921 )
Q: Is there any religious prohibition in placing images of people or animals on the wall ?
A: It is not permissible to hang images of humans or any living creatures on the walls; due to the prohibition of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) regarding that, and his command to obliterate images, and his anger (peace and blessings be upon him) when he saw a curtain with images in it and tore it, as established in the hadith of Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her), and he (peace and blessings be upon him) informed that angels do not enter a house in which there is a dog or an image. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his companions.
