Fatwa number ( 18255 )
Q1: We ask your eminence about the authentic hadiths from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) regarding the expulsion of the jinn, and the ruling on seeking the help of the jinn in permissible matters , and how authentic is what is transmitted from Ibn Taymiyyah (may Allah have mercy on him) on this subject. May Allah reward you with good?
Vol. 1 : We are not aware of a specific hadith from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) regarding the expulsion of jinn from a person. However, one afflicted by jinn is treated with the Qur'an and with permissible ruqyah (healing by Qur'anic recitation), as the Salaf (the earliest generations) used to do. It is not permissible to seek the help of jinn or absent persons, for that is shirk (associating partners with Allah). We are not aware of any explicit statement by Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah permitting this.
