Oath of fifteen times not to marry a man who asked for his daughter and then changed his mind

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The first question of Fatwa No. ( 17028 )
Q1: I inform Your Eminence that my brother asked me for the hand of my daughter for his son, and I agreed. After a period of approximately two years, and before the marriage was completed, the aforementioned brother came and asked for the hand of my second daughter for the aforementioned son, changing his previous request. At that point, I became angry and swore fifteen oaths by the Great Allah that I would not marry your son at all, due to the intensity of the anger, because he had changed his previous request, and asked for my second daughter without there being any justification for it, knowing that no engagement had previously taken place for the first one. In these days, several of my brothers came asking me for a ruling on this matter. I ask Your Eminence: do I have an expiation for the aforementioned oaths or not?
A1: There is no harm in marrying your nephew to the aforementioned daughter, and you must expiate your oaths with a single expiation, which is: feeding ten poor people, each poor person receiving half a sa' (a dry measure of about 3 kg) of the local staple food, or clothing them, or freeing a believing slave. If you are unable to do so, then you fast for three days. This suffices for these oaths as a single expiation, because they are regarding one single matter. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
