The Slaughter of the Drunkard
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The first question of Fatwa No. ( 18264 )
Q 1: It is clear that Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He) has made it permissible for Muslims to eat the food ofthe Christiansand what they slaughter, and so if there isa drunk person (one who drinks intoxicants) who performs the slaughter, is it permissible for us to eat such meat?? Even if a Muslim drinks intoxicants, is his slaughtered meat eaten? He adds: Knowing that the Gospel itself forbidsthe Christiansfrom consuming intoxicants.
A 1: The slaughter of a drunkard is not permissible if he slaughters while in a state of intoxication; because he has no intention, so he is not one of those qualified for lawful slaughter. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
