Eating the egg in which a chick has formed
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The first question of fatwa number ( 20956 )
Q 1: We noticed during our visit to the Philippines that the people of that country widely consume a food dish they call "buto," which consists of: chicken eggs placed in incubators until they form into a small chick in its complete form, and three days before the egg hatches, they cook the egg in water until it is fully cooked, then they break the egg and eat the chick inside it. Please rule on the permissibility of eating this dish, may you be rewarded.
A 1: If the situation is as described, then the chick is considered carrion, and it is not permissible to eat it; because it formed inside the egg, and the prohibition of carrion is something known from the religion by necessity. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
