The Shaykh : Under this heading comes the following hadith, which was narrated with a sound chain from 'Abdullah, who is ibn Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him): That the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) stopped at a place, and a man took the eggs of a hoopoe bird, so it came fluttering over the head of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him).
It flew with a hovering flight, standing above the head of the Messenger (peace be upon him). This flight indicated that something was happening. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) understood this, most likely through revelation, and some people might understand it through intuition, but when the hoopoe fluttered over his head, the Prophet (peace be upon him) immediately addressed his companions and said: or he said: , Al-Adab Al-Mufrad 382. A man said: O Messenger of Allah, I took its egg. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: ; even if a person takes an egg by mistake from a bird's nest and returns it to that nest, it is mercy for that bird. The person is rewarded for this by Allah (may He have mercy on him) (Blessed and Exalted is He) on the Day of Resurrection, just as He was merciful to that prostitute when she gave water to a dog that was nearly dying of thirst, so Allah was pleased with her and forgave her.
It flew with a hovering flight, standing above the head of the Messenger (peace be upon him). This flight indicated that something was happening. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) understood this, most likely through revelation, and some people might understand it through intuition, but when the hoopoe fluttered over his head, the Prophet (peace be upon him) immediately addressed his companions and said:
Which of you frightened this bird by taking its eggs?!
أَيُّكُم فَجعَ هَذهِ ببَيضِها ؟!its egg
بِبيضَتِهَاWhich of you has taken its eggs?
أَيُّكُم فَجعَ هَذهِ بِبيضَتِهَا ؟Return it as a mercy for it
