I swore not to masturbate, then I returned to it

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The third question of Fatwa No. ( 17042 )
Q3: I was compelled to masturbate several times, but I swore on the mushaf that I would not return to masturbation again. However, I returned to it two weeks after the oath, in order to keep myself away from the major sin of unlawful sexual intercourse, may Allah protect us from it. What is the ruling on breaking the oath and what is the expiation? Is there a difference between swearing on the mushaf and swearing with words only?
A3: Masturbation with the hand is forbidden; because it is taking pleasure in what Allah the Exalted has not made lawful. So you must repent from it and not return to it. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) guided young men who could not marry to fast if they feared trial; because fasting breaks the desire and prevents falling into what is forbidden. As for what you mentioned, that you swore to leave masturbation and then did it, you owe an oath expiation, which is: freeing a believing slave, or feeding ten poor people, or clothing them. If you do not find the means, then you fast three days. The amount of food is: half a sa' by the sa' of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) of the staple food
of the country, whether dates, rice, or otherwise, and its amount is approximately one and a half kilograms. As for the clothing, it is a shirt, a lower garment, and a cloak for each of them. There is no need to swear on the mushaf; because it has no basis in the pure Shari'ah. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
