Q: An accident occurred to me by divine decree and destiny, and it was as follows: When I was returning from my work, I went to inspect a crop of mine, and when my car moved, my small daughter, who was three years old, was run over and died, without my seeing that she was behind the car. I ask your eminence to kindly issue a fatwa to me regarding what is obligatory upon me by the Shari'ah in terms of a ransom payment. I inform you that I am a farmer who works all day, and fasting is more difficult for me.
A: If the situation is as you described, then your killing of her was accidental due to your negligence in checking around your car, and you owe her blood money to her heirs, unless they waive it, and you do not inherit from her. You also owe the expiation for accidental killing, which is freeing a believing slave. If you do not find one, then fast two consecutive months. It is not sufficient for that to feed the poor or pay money, because Allah did not mention anything other than freeing a slave and fasting in the expiation for accidental killing, and your Lord is not forgetful. Allah the Exalted said:
[An-Nisa 4:92] until He said: [An-Nisa 4:92] . And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.

وَمَنْ قَتَلَ مُؤْمِنًا خَطَأً فَتَحْرِيرُ رَقَبَةٍ مُؤْمِنَةٍ وَدِيَةٌ مُسَلَّمَةٌ إِلَى أَهْلِهِ إِلا أَنْ يَصَّدَّقُواAnd whoever does not find [one or cannot afford to buy one] - then [instead], a fast for two months consecutively, [seeking] acceptance of repentance from Allah. And Allah is ever Knowing and Wise.
فَمَنْ لَمْ يَجِدْ فَصِيَامُ شَهْرَيْنِ مُتَتَابِعَيْنِ تَوْبَةً مِنَ اللَّهِ وَكَانَ اللَّهُ عَلِيمًا حَكِيمًا
