Q: Is this hadith authentic or not? (The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "O Abu Hurayrah, people will come in the last times who persist in this tobacco , and they say: We are from the Ummah of Muhammad. They are not from my Ummah, and I do not call them my Ummah, but they are from the common people. Abu Hurayrah said: And I asked him (peace and blessings be upon him): How does it grow? He said: It grows from the urine of Iblis. So, is faith equal in the heart of one who drinks the urine of Satan? And he cursed the one who plants it, transports it, and sells it. He (may Allah's prayer and peace be upon him) said: Allah will put them in the Fire, and it is a foul tree).
A: This hadith has no basis in any of the books of the Muhammadan Sunnah; rather, it is fabricated against the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). What is established from him (may Allah's prayer and peace be upon him) is:
That he cursed intoxicants, the one who drinks them, the one who serves them, the one who presses them, the one who is pressed for them, the one who carries them, the one to whom they are carried, the one who sells them, the one who buys them, and the one who eats their priceأنه لعن الخمر وشاربها وساقيها، وعاصرها ومعتصرها، وحاملها والمحمولة إليه، وبائعها ومشتريها وآكل ثمنها
As for tobacco, it is forbidden, and smoking it is a sin against Allah and His Messenger, and the smoker does not leave the Islamic religion by this sin.
