Treatment with Smoke
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Fatwa No. ( 4078 )
Q: My mother, who is at least 75 years old, has suffered from a type of throat disease for 15 years. She has visited every Arab and government doctor without result, and nothing has benefited her except a type of smoke that she places on the pain with the tip of her finger, which reduces it
for a few minutes. Therefore, I ask Allah, then you, to issue a ruling on whether this will be deducted from her in Ramadan, and what is permissible for us to pay on her behalf?
A: First: It is not permissible for your mother to treat her illness or pain with smoke; because using smoke is forbidden; due to the many harms it contains, and Allah has not made the healing of this Ummah in what He has forbidden for them. Second: If some of the smoke reached her throat, it is obligatory for her to make up the day or days during which some of it reached her throat, otherwise she owes nothing.
