Carrying tobacco in mosques during prayer
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The second question of Fatwa No. ( 1382 )
Q2: A man is praying in the mosque in the Rawdah, and a pack of tobacco fell out of his pocket. What is the ruling on his action, and is it permissible to carry tobacco in mosques?
A2: If the question intends to ask about the ruling on carrying tobacco into the mosque, it is not hidden that tobacco is among the detestable and foul matters, and smoking it is forbidden; because of the severe harm it causes to the self, wealth, and society, and because there is no benefit in it. Since it is foul, it is necessary to protect the houses of Allah from it, and carrying it into them conflicts with honoring and respecting the houses of Allah, so it is not permissible. However, if the question intends to ask about the ruling on the action with regard to the prayer: does tobacco falling from the pocket of the one praying invalidate the prayer or
nullify it? The prayer of the one from whom tobacco fell is valid.
